Founded in 1976 by Ann Williams, Dallas Black Dance Theatre is the oldest, continuously operating professional dance company in Dallas. A contemporary modern dance company, the ensemble consists of professional, full-time dancers performing a mixed repertoire of classical, modern, jazz, African, and spiritual works by nationally and internationally known choreographers.

DBDT: Encore!
Dallas Black Dance Theatre Founder, Ann Williams, began DBDT: Encore! (formerly Dallas Black Dance Theatre II) in September 2000 to feature the best and most promising students of the Dallas Black Dance Academy. Over time, the company has grown in breadth, attracting artists who aspire to professional careers in dance.
DBDA Performing Ensembles
Students that show exceptional performance and technical skill are encouraged to audition for the Academy’s Performing Ensembles. There are three ensembles that students can audition to join. Performing ensemble members perform locally at festivals and various events in the Dallas area.
