Jayla Johnson (Chicago, IL) began her training at South Shore Dance Alliance, where she learned the basics and fundamentals of classical dance training. Jayla attended Chicago Multicultural Dance Center and was later accepted to The Chicago High School for the Arts. She received a scholarship to attend The University of Missouri – Kansas City and obtained a BFA in Dance. Jayla danced professionally with DBDT: Encore! for one season and is now in her second season with Dallas Black Dance Theatre.
