Dallas Black Dance Theatre’s touring season includes national and international residencies. These consist of major concert performances, educational workshops and outreach programs. DBDT annually present residencies in Wisconsin, West Coast (Bay Area), San Antonio and for Dallas’ Young Audiences and Arts Partners.

Past notable performances include the 226th Celebration of American Independence in Dublin, Ireland, Dance Women/Living Legends series in New York City; 1996 Olympic Arts Festival in Atlanta, GA; the 1996 Lincoln Center out of Doors Festival in New York City; and the Festival International in Matamoras, Tampaulipas, Mexico. International performances include tours to Vienna, Austria; Great Britain; Seville, Spain; Sicily, Italy and Lima, Peru.

In September 1998, DBDT toured South America in an educational exchange to the cities of Johannesburg, Soweto, Cape Town, and as a special guest artist for the 1998 Cultural Calabash Arts Festival held in the Northern Province. For the Gershwin Centennial, which was celebrated world-wide during the 1998-99 season, DBDT toured its newly created production of Gershwin’s “Miles Davis-Porgy and Bess,” choreographed by Hope Clarke to music performed by the late jazz icon Miles Davis. The production opened at the Kennedy Center (U.S. premier) to three sold-out crowds and afterwards toured Austin, TX, the state of Montana, Salt Lake City, Utah, Pullman, Washington, Pittsburgh, PA and St. Polten, Austria (European premiere). In February 1999, DBDT was featured as a major international guest starring dance company at the Bermuda Festival in Hamilton, Bermuda, where the company’s three performances sold out. DBDT was featured as r the April 2000 Harare International Festival of the Arts in Harare, Zimbabwe.
